SpitFIREstorm – 2 Command Classics Coming to Blu Ray

Command Cinema in association with Distribpix, Inc., proudly announces the two latest Blu Ray/DVD special editions in their ongoing series of exclusive deluxe restorations from the filmography of legendary Golden Age producer/director Cecil Howard: FIRESTORM and SPITFIRE.

Both originally released to theaters in 1984, when other adult filmmakers were abandoning 35mm in favor of vastly cheaper but aesthetically inferior videotape production, these multi-award-winning all-star sizzlers follow Command’s previous HD special editions of Cecil Howard’s Scoundrels (1982), Foxtrot (1982) and Fantasex (1976, co-directed by Roberta Findlay).  FIRESTORM and SPITFIRE both boast intricate, witty screenplays by longtime Howard collaborator Anne Randall who took a cue from then-current primetime network monster hits Dynasty, Dallas and Falcon Crest, crafting sagas of powerful, privileged and corrupt families driven equally by sex and money — but of course Randall and Howard amped up the steaminess at every turn in ways prudish TV censors would have never allowed!

FIRESTORM centers around studly but down-on-his-luck author Ken Cushing (Eric Edwards), all-too-easily seduced into becoming the ghostwriter for wealthy matriarch Magda Balcourt (Kay Parker), intent on penning a tell-all memoir.  Moving into the family mansion, Ken is quickly sucked into a psychosexual vortex of torrid secrets, infidelity and backstabbing involving Magda, her husband Lee (John Leslie) and their gorgeous blind daughter Claire (Joanna Storm).  With memorable roles for other top XXX talent, including Sharon Mitchell, Sharon Kane, Tina Marie, George Payne and Teutonic temptress Rikki Harte, this lavishly produced epic kept critics and fans spellbound, and spawned two sequels.

It won four Adult Film Association of America Erotica Awards —Best Erotic Scene (Tina Marie, Sharon Kane and Michael Bruce), Best Musical Score, Best Song and Best Trailer — and was nominated for three more: Best Picture, Best Actress (Tina Marie aka Victoria Jackson) and Best Actor (Eric Edwards).  John Leslie picked up Best Supporting Actor at the Adult Video News Awards, where FIRESTORM was nominated in ten additional categories: Best Picture, Director, Actress (Joanna Storm), Supporting Actress (Tina Marie and Kay Parker), Screenplay, Art Direction, Cinematography, Film Editing and Sex Scene.  It was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Director at the X-Rated Critics Organization awards.

In SPITFIRE, director/producer Cecil Howard and screenwriter Randall skewer the world of hypocritical politics, with the sizzling tale of Congressman Victor Kidd (R Bolla aka Robert Kerman), up for re-election and pandering to the Christian Right with his tried-and-true “family values”-anti-fornication platform… while desperately attempting to conceal his own sexual transgressions from his equally adulterous wife (Samantha Fox) and “virginal” daughter (Tigr), who’s actually a raving nymphomaniac under the “care” of disgraced shrink Dr Vargo (Eric Edwards). Also starring Golden Age mainstays John Leslie, Annie Sprinkle, Sharon Mitchell, Joey Silvera, Susan Nero, Gail Sterling and Howard’s favorite poster-girl Rikki Harte, this breathlessly paced, wickedly twisted classic — despite its veneer of Eighties’ gloss — is more timely than ever.

It was nominated for Best Film Editing at the 1986 Adult Video News Awards.

Both films will be Blu Ray/DVD combo-packs, uncut, region-free and limited to 1000 units each.  The first 500 of each title ordered directly from Command will feature exclusive bonus collectibles — magnets, insert cards and bookmarks.
